Citizens have the opportunity to be directly involved in reconciling the difference between the young person, the victim and the community.

Prevents:
- Youth from receiving a criminal record.

- Opportunity to gain an understanding of how inappropriate behaviour impacts the community.

- Less serious offences to be diverted from the court process, reducing cost and delay.
